Origin of Chinese medicine
During ancient times, people did not know how to cultivate crops. In the absence of food and vegetables, they completely depend on nature to find plants, fruits and prey that can be eaten to sustain life.
In the midst of struggling with nature and seeking survival, the Chinese ancestors created what to be known as ancient medicine.
The Chinese ancestors in the process of finding food, gradually found that some plants can reduce or eliminate some of the body's pain. At first, they were unintentional but the same phenomena repeated itself countless times. Later, this began to catch people's attention.
Once the body had a discomfort, they deliberately when to look for the corresponding plants in order to relieve discomfort, which is the ancient discovery and application of Chinese medicine.
From unintentional to intentional, after a long historical period, through continuous discovery, observation and collection of data , this therefore enriched the experience of using Chinese herbal medicine treatment.
Thus, the use of herbal medicine for traditional Chinese medicine laid down the foundation for the accumulation of valuable experience.
Origin of Acupuncture and Moxibustion
Acupuncture and moxibustion methods is another important means and methods of Chinese medicine treatment.
1. Origin of Acupuncture
Acupuncture originated in the late Paleolithic period of more than 10,000 years ago.
In the ancient times, metal has not been invented yet. Stone was used as a production tool, people often get stone cuts from working with stone. They gradually found that after a part of their body that was stabbed by stone, the disease or pain that they originally had was alleviated or eliminated.
This phenomenon caught attention of the ancients. When they have body discomfort or sickness, they went to look for thin slices of sharp stone to cut or puncture themselves, in order to alleviate or eliminate the disease or pain.
During the Neolithic Age (about 8,000 years ago) due to the invention of the grinding technology, the stone can be ground into stone ax, stone shovel, stone hammer and other kind of labor tools. Animals bones were also grinned into a fine and sharp needle. The invention of grinding technology has promoted the development of acupuncture tools and acupuncture techniques.
During the Han Dynasty, with the invention of smelting technology, metal needle were used instead of the bone needle. Now, modern acupuncture uses stainless steel needles.
2. Origin of Moxibustion
Moxibustion originated from the invention of fire. The ancients use fire to warm up their bodies and cook food. In that process, they gradually found out that their body was not only warm and comfortable, their pain and sickness was gone.
In order for the warm energy to have a lasting effect on pain points, ancients used animal skins or bark wrapped in hot stones or sand, and then placed it on some parts of the body to relieve pain.
Through repeated practice and improvement, later moxibustion materials are mainly made of wormwood leaves, and has been in use ever since.
